Hayden Chisholm is a world renown saxophonist, composer and multi-instrumentalist. Originally from New Zealand, and currently living in Belgrade. Although in his work touches various genres of music, on the world stage it is recognizable first of all by jazz, improvisations and contemporary classical music.
Hayden Chisholm was named best jazz musician at the National Jazz Festival in Tauranga, New Zealand, at the age of 16. As a scholarship holder of the German Academy of Exchange (DAAD), he continued his education at the Cologne Music Academy in the class of Professor Frank Gratkowski. In 1997, he received the prestigious “Young Creators of New Zealand” award that allows him to continue his education abroad. During this period, he studied Carnathian music from southern India, and often traveled through the Balkans to meet the traditional music of this region.
During his studies in Cologne he collaborated with many musicians, including Markus Schmiker, Nils Vogram, John Taylor, Burnt Friedman, etc. Since 2000, she began a fruitful collaboration with the famous German artist Rebecca Horn, with whom she performed in New York, Majorca, Lisbon and Berlin.
Hayden Chisholm is also the founder of the Plushmusic Festival, which began seven years ago in Cologne, and is held every year in various cities of several countries and brings together musicians of various genres. In January 2017,Hayden Chisholm with the Abarid Foundation and in cooperation with the Gete Institute from Belgrade, organizes the first Plasmusik festival in Belgrade, featuring renowned musicians and music composers such as Zijad Rajžab trio, Omodernt String Quartet. The first Plaque Festival was visited by 550 spectators, and two concerts from Studio 6 RTB also had a direct transfer to RTS 3.
Hayden Chisholm has over 30 albums in his rich career and participated in the creation of over 50 editions. Last year, he released a box set of 13 discs called “Cusp of Oblivion”, which came up with a very positive reaction from the audience. He has performed all over the world, and his performances have been transmitted by numerous leading television and radio stations in Germany, Japan and New Zealand. His performances were also recorded by Radio Bi-Bi-Si, Western Radio, and won the Jazz Artist Award for the year by Radio Southwestern Germany.
